JOB SUMMARY: Develop web-based software applications using HTML, Java, JQuery, Java Script, .Net, C# or other programming languages. Use object-oriented methodologies with a focus on delivering reusable code. 5+ years experience working with Microsoft, Java or other related programming technologies. Build applications from requirements and specifications, maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance existing web applications and integrate data between systems GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Senior Application Engineers provide general website building, application development, and design and maintenance services for a network of over 700 websites. This position is responsible for developing enhancements for the content management system that manages these websites. The Senior Application Engineer will employ industry standard development tools, technologies and methodologies to deliver applications and system enhancements. Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and good communication skills are required. Individuals that are self-starting and need little direction are well suited to this position. In addition, they routinely lead special development projects where they are called upon to find creative, web or mobile-based solutions for clients and the company. Work generally falls into three categories: Web Application Development: The Web Developer t must be able to code web-based applications using HTML, DHTML, Java, Java Script, jQuery, CSS, Velocity, XML/XSL. Background with ASP, .NET, SQL Postgress, PHP, MySQL, is beneficial. Developers may also maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance existing web applications. Web developers should be adept at applying web technology that will deliver business results. They will work to deliver applications based on customer requirements and company standards. Some development will include working with UI/UX designers to implement site look and feel, site navigation, and interactive elements. They may be responsible for some departmental data base administration and development of database driven websites. Lead and Organize Development Work The Senior Application Engineer is responsible for leading development projects and articulating the project tasks to other developers. Must be able to maintain code and coding standards and be able to communicate those standards to other developers. Familiarity with Agile, Scrum or other development methodologies is important. This position will be responsible for organizing website assets and code with SVN or other code management tool. The Senior Application Engineer may be responsible for the technical coordination of system upgrades and issue resolution. • Lead development efforts and mentor other developers. • Write technical specifications and provide detailed documentation of work. • Give accurate work estimates. • Code to HCA standards and develop new standards User Interface Design: Application prototypes and interactive web demos are also produced under the direction and guidance of Business Analysts and department management. The Application Engineer should be able to work with moderate direct supervision, understand the target audience and develop an appropriate user interaction. Additionally they will need to be able to interpret user interface and workflow designs and produce prototypes that are designed within pre-existing product line design guidelines. EXPERIENCE: 5+ years of applicable work experience. EDUCATION: College graduate preferred. TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED: • HTML, DHTML, Java, Java Script, JQuery, XML/XSL, CSS, Velocity • Database Development and managment using MS SQL, Postgress, MySQL • LAMP server environments • Eclipse and other IDEs • Client and server-side scripting • Familiarity or competence with various design tools as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, CS4 &#xxxxx; Familiarity with delivering multimedia in web applications • Thorough knowledge of Web Browsers and browser compatibility • Experience in conceptualization and functional design of web-enabled systems
